This is further to Health Canada’s regulatory changes related to Veterinary Health Products (VHPs) that will come into force on November 13, 2017 (See recent news). The new VHP Notification Program will be administered by Health Canada and replace our existing LRVHP Program.
Please note the following dates related to the transition to the new system:
Until October 13th, NAC will continue to administer the LRVHP.ca system and handle questions and concerns.
Between October 13, 2017 and November 13, 2017 Health Canada will be preparing the new Notification Program for VHPs.
All products that have a valid Notification Number as of October 13th, 2017 will have extra time to transition to the new system (18 months extra beyond November 13, 2017 coming into force - which is May 13, 2019).
October 13, 2017 is the last day that NAC will administer the LRVHP.ca
September 8, 2017 is the last day to submit new Notification applications under the existing program.
October 13, 2017 is the last day to renew Notification applications.
October 13, 2017 is the last day that the LRVHP.ca system will be able to receive any adverse events.
The current AER phone number will continue to operate until May 13, 2019.
Admissible Substance Applications currently in review which have not been completed will transition to the new system.
We will be automatically transferring all the files for your company to Health Canada. If for any reason you do not wish us to do this please advise (firstname.lastname@example.org) by August 25th.
Our LRVHP.ca system will remain accessible for reference purposes until May 13, 2019 in a read only format. All administration features and functions will be disabled.
Applicants can check the status of their notified products online by connecting to their LRVHP account.

Submission fee is $250 to be paid when submitting the Notification request.
At the time of receiving your Notification Number a fee of $500 will be required.
Annual renewals will be $250 and should be accompanied with an annual summary adverse event report referring to any adverse event observed in the previous 12 months. It should be noted that adverse events should be reported to the Administrator by using the Adverse Event Tracking System.
To amend a submission, there will be a fee of $250.

If your product contains an ingredient that is not listed, you may still proceed with a new application. You will be guided to complete a request for approval.
North American Compendiums will inform Health Canada about your request. Health Canada will determine if the substance meets the criteria for addition to the List.
If Health Canada requires more data/information for an ingredient to be added to the substance list, we will request you to complete a new Substance Application Form.
As Administrator, we will check that all required fields are completed correctly. Special attention will be paid to the ingredients, appropriate cautions/warnings and claims.
To complete the process, we will ask you to attest that you comply with all the requirements of the program as stated.
